Case Against Maruti Company: Filing in Consumer Court

Case Against Maruti Company: Filing in Consumer Court

At Jitva Foundation, we are committed to protecting consumer rights and ensuring that individuals receive fair and transparent treatment from all service providers. Recently, we had the opportunity to file a case in the consumer court on behalf of a customer against Maruti Company, who reported that despite paying for a new vehicle, the RTO registration and insurance were not processed by the showroom owner.

Background

Our client purchased a new Maruti car and was assured at the time of sale that all processes, including RTO registration and insurance, would be handled by the showroom. The customer paid all associated fees, including the car price along with the RTO and insurance charges. However, upon starting to use the car, the customer discovered that neither the RTO registration was completed nor were the insurance documents provided.

Filing the Case

Given these serious issues, we filed a formal complaint in the consumer court, highlighting the following points:

  • Deficiency in Service: The showroom failed to fulfill the services promised to the customer, which constitutes a violation of consumer rights.
  • Misleading Advertising: The customer was led to believe that all formalities would be completed by the showroom, whereas that was not the case.
  • Mental Distress and Financial Loss: The customer invested in their new car but faced mental stress and incurred additional expenses due to the lack of necessary formalities.

Our Objectives

Through this legal action, our primary objectives are:

  1. Seeking Compensation: We aim to obtain appropriate compensation for the customer for their payments made.
  2. Raising Consumer Awareness: Through this case, we want to make other consumers aware of their rights and inform them about the expected standards of service.
  3. Promoting Transparency and Accountability: We seek to encourage car showrooms and related companies to bring transparency to their services and be accountable to customers.

Conclusion

At Jitva Foundation, we stand for consumer rights and are committed to ensuring that individuals are treated fairly by service providers. We will continue to support our client throughout this legal process and work to raise awareness about consumer issues.
